Sensory-Friendly Hour at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news! Starting April 2, 2025, Magnolia Plantation & Gardens will be hosting a free Sensory-Friendly Hour on the first Wednesday of each month.

This initiative aims to provide a calm and accessible experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families. Gates will open at 8:00 AM, one hour before the general public, allowing you to enjoy our celebrated gardens in a serene environment. Please note that the Peacock Cafe will not be open until 9:00 AM. Individuals with sensory sensitivities can enjoy complimentary admission, along with one family member or companion. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature.

Get up close and personal with a variety of animals at our Wildlife Center! Meet mammals, reptiles, birds of prey, and more. If you prefer that chickens and ducks remain in their enclosure, just let us know when you register. Please be aware that goats and peacocks roam freely, and service dogs are not permitted in the Wildlife Center per state law. For those looking for a quieter experience, we offer an optional, narration-free 30-minute nature train ride from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. This peaceful journey through our diverse ecosystems may provide opportunities to spot alligators, birds, and turtles.

Take your time exploring our picturesque gardens, wildlife areas, and stunning river views at your own pace. To enhance your experience, our horticulture team will pause mowing during this hour, ensuring a quieter atmosphere. To ensure a comfortable experience for all, capacity is limited. We encourage you to register early to secure your spot! Guests are welcome to stay and enjoy the gardens after the Sensory-Friendly Hour concludes. Please bring a water bottle. A cooler will be on site should guests need a water refill.

For registration and additional information, please contact Carrie Seiden, our Education Programs Director, at 843-571-1266 x 2100 or education@magnoliaplantation.com.

We look forward to welcoming you to Magnolia Plantation & Gardens for this special event! Join us in creating a peaceful and enjoyable experience for everyone.
